MERRY IMBOLC AND BRIGHT BRIGHID BLESSINGS!

MERRY IMBOLC AND

BRIGHT BRIGHID BLESSINGS!

Hello Friends!

The days have been lengthening and the nights are growing shorter. Imbolc is one of four cross-quarter holidays - the point between the longest night of Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox - when the light/day and dark/night are of equal length. Some traditional cultures consider today the beginning of Spring.

Can you feel the subtle shift in the light? If you are in the northern hemisphere of our planet, it’s quite noticeable. Go outside at the end of the day and see for yourself. You may be longing more than before to be outdoors with less bundling up, may be wanting to feel the fresh air and warm sun kiss your bare skin.

Hang in there, enjoy the darker time before we emerge out of our caves, our homes, our reveries and our Winter dreams. Dream for a while yet.

What is quickening in you this Imbolc?

The Wheel of the Year is turning and it revolves with the help of our love and conscious participation. I was taught that if we didn’t help, (i.e. mark, celebrate and engage in the sacredness of the eight points of power that arise as the seasons change), the wheel might just stop turning!

There has never been a time when some people, somewhere, weren’t gathering to mark the shifts of the seasons, so it may be true. Let’s not find out!

Does this make you think of Groundhog’s Day? It should!

The connection of this time with weather divination is very old and of course

Was and still is a practical consideration for farmers.

Imbolc is a time of promise, a time of quickening. Whatever seed you conceived of at Winter Solstice is getting sparked and energized, readying to germinate in six weeks at Equinox. Right now we are full of potential; gardeners are choosing their seeds and designing their gardens, foxes and wolves are mating with wild pleasure, while already pregnant ewes are full in their bellies and udders; the creative force is stirring and Brighid is stirring her cauldron. The Goddess Brighid (pronounced Bride) is a goddess of smith-crafting and poetry, of sacred wells and forging with fire. Any act of creativity that you engage in at this time will be most pleasing to her.

When you engage with the natural energies of the wheel of the year, each holiday becomes a gateway that opens and beckons you to invoke more partnership with spirit… more connection with your creativity.

Green Blessings and love,
Robin Rose
