The Magic of Nature

I just came in from walking in the misty woods at dusk. Dawn and dusk are my favorite, most magical times of day. I took off my shoes and felt the cold wet leaves soft under my feet, the stones sturdy and supportive. The air was rich, intoxicating. Little Indian pipes and many kinds of mushrooms still to be identified were sprouting up after all the rain we've had. A feather gift from a bird friend lay camoflaged among the ground plants including a baby sassafras tree and low bush blueberries. I breathed deeply, sang a song of love to the forest, to life. Nature is the great healer. Herbal medicine is the people's medicine and it soothes our souls as it heals our bodies.
