Tsunami - 12/29/04

 Dear Friends,

I received this email some days ago...

”I’m totally freaked out... could someone please tell me why nature, with all it’s power, would instantly wipe out 23,000* lives? What the hell is happening?”

I want to share my reply for your consideration:   (*of course we know the numbers continued to rise and rise...)

First of all, Freak out freely...it’s important...sit with it, or dance with it or cry with it, draw with it, talk, sing, yell...trust your feelings, there’s wisdom and liberation there...allow yourself to feel what you feel and like anything else, it will evolve and change and instruct you...and at the same time as your friend said, you can help or send help to the survivors...

Nature doesn’t wipe out...not exactly...she transforms...she takes back to herself...energy can’t die but it is always dancing...changing from one form to another, and all matter, even us, is always pulsing on and off between form and formlessness...we exist in the dimension of form and we also exist beyond it...I know this doesn’t change the deeply human feeling/experience of loss, nor is it meant to...but it’s as central to our evolution to let this piece of truth sink into or surface from our deep places of knowing as it is to let the truth of human grieving and the experience of loss break our hearts open...we need all the open hearts we can get...and this doesn’t mean we will be less reverent for life, on the contrary, less fearful of loss and death, we can be most reverent of life...

Re: your question...We are nature... So, what are we doing with all our power???  The latest statistic I read is that 27,000 children under five years old die every day from starvation and preventable and treatable diseases. On the most fundamental level nature’s weathers including earthquakes and hurricanes and floods, etc. etc. etc. reflects our emotions our energies...our relationships, our distribution of resources, our use of power... as well as all our physical “contributions” - pharmaceutical/medical/agricultural/military chemicals and radioactive substances, and manufactured genes...our building up and changing the coastlines, nuclear bombing under the ground and sonic bombing under the oceans...all these effect nature and effect what the hell is happening...

I remember being very clear when Mt. St. Helens erupted in Oregon (I lived in Santa Cruz California at the time and it affected us immediately and our weather for a long while after)...that there was an energetic connection between the timing of the explosion and the riots going on in Miami at the same time...visually they were linked on a direct diagonal line across the U.S. ...and when there was an awful earthquake in...Afghanistan, I believe it was, it was within a week of underground nuclear testing in Pakistan/India...I knew clearly that these events were connected and was surprised no one was raising the question. This is a long way to say, whatever nature is doing...is connected to what we’re doing, too.

It seems to me that our overwhelming lack of owning our own power, including our power to effect change, is a far more pressing issue to wrestle with...than why nature is doing what she does...Life is happening...let’s live it!!!!  Be grateful for your life and opportunity and freedom to choose what you do with your energy and your time...and follow through and trust that who you are and what you do is enough.

      Peace and Blessings, Robin
